BRAIN

Sculptural Installation, Interactive installation, Biosensors, Projection Mapping

OBLSK - BRAIN.JPG

The Brain is a fascinating and mysterious mechanism which is central to human counciousness. The OBLSK Interactive artists (Eve Warnock, Pelham Johnston, Marque Reavley, & Stacie Sells) have designed a sculptural installation that incorporates sound, light, imagery, and uses biometric data to create an immersive interactive experience. Using EEG brain sensing technology we are exploring how our brain reacts to the sounds and images that are presented to it, and how these images and sounds can be changed based on our brain activity. Are we able to transcend beyond our consciousness? Beyond our bodies and ourselves? Come find out yourself and see how technical interfaces are being used to augment human cognition. Brain was premiered at the Blockfort Gallery and presented at the Columbus Makers X.

OBLSK Horizons

OBLSK_GOALS.jpg

Wow! 2017 has been an incredible year.  From projects like the RainCloud, a glowing helium balloon at the Independent’s Day festival to Entangled, the projection installation at the Highball Halloween.  On the branding development/media production side of things we have built an amazing client base of artists, producers, doctors, entrepreneurs, and nonprofits.  We have broadened our horizons with international clients, created identities for start up business’ and have created enormous leaps in building SEO optimization for all of our social media accounts.

And we are LOVING how 2018 is already shaping up!

We are EXPANDING!  Please spread the word.  We love collaborating with our clients to create incredible stories through media production, web design,  online marketing strategies and projection mapping.  We also have the goal to design and install 5 MIND BLOWING art installations, one on international soil and another in another fantastic city outside of Columbus.

We are truly dedicated.

BRAIN:

Client Profiles:

Sierra Club Ready for 100 Campaign

OBLSK had the honor of producing the Ready for 100 Campaign.

The Ready for 100 Columbus campaign is run out of our local Sierra Club chapter with the goal of getting Columbus to commit to powering itself with 100% renewable energy by 2050. We know that the best way to save money, increase our city’s competitive edge, and ensure the best future for our kids is to harness the readily available energy around us rather than continuing to ship in coal, oil, and gas that pollute our air and decrease our standard of living.

Working with the Ready for 100 Campaign has been an awesome adventure so far.  We got to hang out with the Minster Village Administrator, Don Harrod and explore the Minster Solar Array as well as connect with Design Energy Group. We got to chill at the top of the Chase building in the GCAC office and watch the movement of Columbus unfold below. We also got to talk with sector heads of the Ready for 100 Campaign team and highlight their own personal endeavors in the support of the Ready for 100 Campaign.

This is the beginning of a wonderful relationship and we can’t wait to share with you our adventures as we meet the people and document the movement that will change Columbus to be the forefront in renewable energy.

Our next adventure will be to explore Branch Out Columbus!

RainCloud: Beauty, Awe, and Success,

cloud_over_city.jpg

RainCloud was presented at the IDX fest this last weekend Sept. 16th and 17th. and was a huge success! RainCloud is a floating augmented high-tech installation as well as a symbol of the natural environment; a reminder of the simple beauty found in our atmosphere and the never-ending cycle of water between ground and sky.

This simulated cloud floats 18 feet from the ground in an outdoor environment, and is illuminated from within using RGB LED lights. During the day, it  shimmers due to the reflective, iridescent qualities of its outer skin while at night it glows equally as brilliant by using artificial light. Glowing from within, the RainCloud changes color based on interaction from the audience (attendees of the arts festival) and/or based on environmental changes in its surroundings in real time. The RainCloud acts as a stage for performance, music, and education.

Pilgrim Heidi Kambitsch of OpenHeartCreatures performed Empathy Eyeball which was a beautiful puppet movement piece that revealed the frenzy of humanity through clashing thunderbolts. The performance ended with the empathy eyeball releasing tears of joy and sadness.

The H2Ohio panel discussion was a tremendous success bringing together  of array of studies on freshwater. The panel discussed Ohio Freshwater on a Global Scale and talked about the state of water locally, nationally, and globally. The discussion focused specifically in the areas of environmental protection, economics and industry, health and well being, and the future outlook of water.  We were honored to have such a passionate, intelligent, and thoughtful panel. Panel consisted of Jason Cervenec, Elissa Yoder Mann, Dr. Ben Warnock, and Cheryl Johncox

RainCloud would not have been possible without the determination, talents, and perserverence of the OBLSK team of Artists.

Pelham_web.jpg

Pelham Johnston: Director- Pelham led the RainCloud project overseeing the design choices, the integration of electronic components, and the interactive elements.  Pelham was quite impressive with 10 hrs of sleep in the last 4 days before the installation.

Maxwell_web.jpg

Maxwell McEvoy: Production Artist-Maxwell was on the project from concept to completion offering support in the structural design, concept, and aesthetic of the RainCloud.  Maxwell was the master seamster, without his dedication to heat sealing the seams the RainCloud would never float.

Marque_web.jpg

Marque Reavley: Software Engineer- Marque is a software wizard and a virtuoso in working through glitches and possible hiccups in the code.  He is an incredible collaborator and his calm energy and efficient work ethic keeps us all in awe.

Aidan_web2.jpg

Aidan Seine: Electronics Engineer- Aidan was flown in from Los Angelos because of his incredible skills in electronic engineering. He was able to create magic working in large scale and under a tight budget.

Stacie_web.jpg

Stacie Sells-Vanscoder: Project Manager- Without Stacie this project would never have gotten off the ground  pun intended!). Her organization and collaboration with all the outside parts and pieces made this piece real to the public .  She was the drive behind the H2OHIO Freshwater panel discussion.

eve_web.jpg

eve Warnock: Creative Director/Producer- eve Warnock took the vision of the RainCloud and made it a reality.  She has a knack for taking things out of the thin air and blowing them up to 30 ft to float. She has a passion for public art and pushes the boundaries for both the public and her team on concept, achievability, and imagination.

Special Thank yous to Adam Brouillette and the IDX team that supported us on our visions and helped to make it possible, to American Polyfilm for donating the Polyurethane, To Sunny Meadow Flower Farm for donating the Grass, to Geers Gas for the discounted helium, To Sarah Iles Johnston for her support and sponsorship, and to our three beautiful children, Wolfgang, Archer, and Orion for their patience, love, and inspiration.
